We believe that emerging into parenthood, you should be surrounded by intentional, heartfelt, evidence-based compassionate care in the comforts of your home.
Nancy Pol, MSN, APRN, CNM
Founder and Owner
Nancy is a compassionate Certified Nurse-Midwife with a proven track record providing quality, family-centered care in homes, birth centers, and the hospital setting.
Nancy attended Rutgers University for undergrad where she also received an athletic scholarship to play lacrosse. She completed her graduate school midwifery education through the Frontier Nursing University in Hyden, KY graduating with Honors.
Since 2002, Nancy has worked in the healthcare space. Initially starting her nursing journey as a Cardio-Pulmonary Registered Nurse, she has also worked in Perinatal, Neonatal Intensive Care, and IV Team for various hospitals in Pennsylvania and Southern California. In 2011, Nancy started attending births in the home and birth center settings, where she received most of her graduate level midwifery experience. While her love has always been in the out of hospital space, in 2018, she also helped to start an in-hospital birthing center, only the second of its kind in the state of California.

It was 2018, while growing a baby of her own, that Emergence Midwifery + Wellness was born. With a strong desire to decentralize care and bring quality, individualized, evidence-based midwifery into the homes of those she serves. In addition to perinatal care, Nancy provides well woman care, preconception, family planning, contraception, and miscarriage and loss support all in the comfort of your home. Nancy and her husband John have been married for 19 years. They are the parents of five children, four of them being born with midwives at birth centers and at home. When Nancy is not catching babies, she enjoys camping, hiking, and going to the beach with her family. She is actively involved in her church serving in the Healthcare, Children’s, and Welcome Team Ministries.
What sets you apart?
Nancy is one of the only Certified Nurse Midwives that exclusively attends home births in the East Valley. She is well versed in homeopathy, herbs, essential oils, and in addition has prescriptive authority. She is a trauma informed provider. At Emergence, our promise has always been to take a small number of clients into care each month to ensure quality time together at visits in the comforts of your home. I have a passion for education and advocacy. I enjoy not only educating families throughout their care, I also love to serve as a consultative provider for other licensed and certified community midwives in the area.
One of the only things lacking for me personally and professionally was a true work life balance and a sustainable practice. Since starting as a solo Nurse Midwife, I have always wanted to expand my team with like-minded midwives that personally and professionally align. In January 2022 as an answer to prayers, that vision became a reality and our intimate group practice was formed.
Additionally in January of 2022, Nancy started an in-home mobile IV therapy division as an extension of her existing midwifery practice. With the organic growth and demand for treatment, Emerge IV was officially expanded to serve the valley and individuals outside of Emergence Midwifery + Wellness.
In September 2023, Emerge Ultrasound was born in collaboration with Janna Krouse, RDMS, RVT and Dr. Anavish Patil created for Emergence families and non Emergence families because everyone deserves care like this.

Megan Zilla, MSN, APRN, CNM
Megan is a certified nurse-midwife who is dedicated to individualized patient care. She has always been passionate about education and autonomy and this has driven her throughout her career.
Megan has worked in the healthcare setting since she was 18 and knew from a young age that she wanted to be a nurse. Megan learned she was meant for labor and delivery during her nursing school clinicals where she witnessed that labor is not for the faint of heart. When she graduated from Grand Canyon University with her BSN in 2017 she started working at Saint Joe's Hospital in Phoenix, AZ on the labor and delivery floor.
While Megan loved working as a nurse, she felt a pull to be available for more than just the 12 hours she had to offer each shift. She was compelled to be an option for women to provide the education that they deserve and the true autonomy that they are entitled to. So, in 2020, Megan began her Master’s program to become a nurse-midwife at Frontier Nursing University. It was at clinical bound that Megan first set her goals upon becoming a homebirth midwife.
After graduating, Megan joined a low-volume, hospital-based practice, where she was able to provide care for patients who desired hospital birth with more time spent in prenatal visits. She is honored to have been chosen by all her families at that time. Still, Megan felt a pull to hold space for more.
Megan is elated to provide the holistic, loving, intentional care in the home setting that Emergence allows for. She looks forward to the complete autonomy for her patients and for herself to come up with plans of care that are truly individualized to each family. She is thrilled with her opportunity to walk alongside Caitlin and Nancy to gain their knowledge and continue the care that is so beloved in the community.
Outside of being a midwife, Megan is a wife and a mother to a beautiful 8-month-old baby girl. She also has 3 dogs and 7 chickens. Megan finds joy in organic gardening. In fact, half of her backyard was turned into gardening space. You can also find her outside doing practically anything, but some of her favorites include fishing, hiking, and camping. She also loves to curl up with a good book and lose track of time.
She looks forward with so much joy to care for all families who choose her to be a part of their pregnancy and birth journey.
